STMA volleyball got a big win against the Osseo Orioles on Tuesday night, but lost a tough matchup against Maple Grove to end the week on Thursday.

The Lady Knights lost the first set against Osseo, but rallied to win the next three and take the match 3-1 Tuesday night.

A close first set went the way of the Orioles 21-25. After that, the Knights took control of the second set, winning it by the commanding score of 25-13. The third set went back and forth until the Knights scored some key points to win 25-21.

Leading 2-1, STMA scored the first several points of the fourth set and won it going away 25-9.

Head coach Michelle Chen said that the girls kept their focus, which allowed them to run the table in the last three sets to win the match.

“This is showing them that if they just stick with that, good things are going to happen,” Chen said.

The Knights fell in five sets to the Crimson of Maple Grove. STMA suffered its first loss of the season in their home opener.

The Knights play Thursday night against Rogers.
