Cross Community Players will be presenting the musical “State Fair” for one weekend only this month.
The production tells the story of a family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days at the Iowa fair.
Cross Community Players Artistic Director Liz Yoder-Smith said, “CCP’s production of state fair is heart-warming, it has characters that are just like family and has music that will fill your head for days and make you wanna dance and sing the night away. The cast ranges from 5-70, it celebrates everything you love about the state fair in a fun old timey setting.”
She continued, “This is CCP’s 37th year in the Maple Grove area, they put on one smaller scale show in the winter and one larger scale production in the summer. This show is enchanting. CCP did this show in 1999, just couple years after it came of Broadway, and this year we’re reviving it with some fresh faces and a couple cast members from CCP’s originally production.”
Performances will be Thursday to Saturday, July 27 to 29, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, July 29, at 3:30 p.m. All performances will be at Maple Grove Senior High School, 9800 Fernbrook Lane N.
There will be an ASL performance July 27 and a AD performance July 29, at 2 p.m.
