Knights tennis pushes on through bad weather

STMA boy’s tennis got four matches in despite cold and rainy weather last week.

First up, the Knights handily defeated Robbinsdale Cooper in a 7-0 sweep.

Jimmy Li (6-1, 6-2), Owen Lindstrom (6-1, 6-3), Caden Sigerud (6-0, 6-1) and Ezra Dickerson (6-0, 6-0) won in singles. Doubles wins came from the teams of Michael House and David Watts (6-1, 6-2), Johnny Thunder and Joey Kragness (6-1, 6-0) and Ethan Cornell and Broderick Moehn (6-0, 6-1).


The Knights braved cold weather to score a 5-2 win over North Branch.

Jimmy Li (6-0, 6-0), Caden Sigerud (6-3, 6-1), and Ezra Dickerson (6-4, 6-1) won in singles. Michael House and David Watts (6-1, 6-3), and Ethan Cornell and Broderick Moehn (6-1, 6-0) got wins in doubles.


The Knights had a tri-meet against Thief River Falls and Becker.

STMA needed every point they could get in a 4-3 win over Thief River Falls.

Three out of the four points came from singles as Jimmy Li (6-1, 6-1), Owen Lindstrom (6-0, 7-6(10-8)) and Caden Sigerud (6-1, 7-5) won.

Cornell and Kragness won their match to score the lone point in doubles.

Becker swept the Knights 7-0. Jimmy Li came closest to scoring a win, losing in three sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-1).

STMA is 8-3 on the season, 3-0 in the Mississippi 8.
