Villains lose 2 more games, Saints split pair of games

Albertville lost all four of its games, falling 8-1 to St. Michael, 5-1 to Ramsey, and losing both games of a doubleheader to Monticello by a score of 11-5 and 8-1. St. Michael lost to Hamel 9-3 on Sunday.

The Villains took the lead first, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Saints took an early 2-1 in the second inning and added to it throughout the game.
Aaron Sperl got the win for the Saints while Todd Klaers took the loss for the Villains. Brandon Berning, Will Berning and Vogt pitched relief for Albertville.
“We had that one bad inning where you make an error, and if you let (St. Michael) get guys on base, they’re gonna get that hit here and there,” JT Sokolowski said.
“This is just one more step to get where we need to be,” Mike Freske said, hoping the Saints could eventually clinch a bye in the upcoming section playoffs.

The Villains also fell 5-1 to Ramsey, and lost game one 11-5 and game two 8-1 to Monticello in the Sunday doubleheader.
The Villains finish the season playing St. Francis on Wednesday and Ramsey on Friday. St. Michael played Montrose-Waverly on Wednesday, and plays Howard Lake on Friday and Rogers on Sunday.
