For the third year, the ourLife expo will be guiding aging adults on lifestyle and financial tips.
The expo is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Southdale YMCA, 7355 York Ave. S., Edina.
The event is not only aged toward aging adults 55 and older, but also for adult children who have aging parents.
The expo is a free resource to talk to more than 50 exhibitors discussing topics that range from health care, services and social security to travel tips and financial advice.
There are also free seminars that take place throughout the day, including some free screenings.
The first 150 people through the door will get a doorbuster surprise, and there will also be giveaways at the end of every seminar.
This year, the ourLife expo will be held at the Southdale YMCA. The past two years it has been held at the Doubletree hotel.
“This is a place that encourages an active lifestyle,” event organizer Krista Jech said. “It is bright, vibrant and activity going on all the time. It brings a new kind of energy to this event.”
The format will also be similar, other than the fact that it will be held on a Saturday instead of a Sunday.
“We are really trying to get the people in their 50s and 60s that want to come that are leading an active lifestyle,” Jech said. “People who are looking to travel, looking for what to do with their investments – you don’t have to be a senior to attend this event. It is really for you to plan the next stage of your life – or your parents’ lives.”
Between 500 and 700 people attended the previous two expos, but Jech expects more to come this year.
The presenting sponsor, for the third consecutive year, is Corner Home Medical.
Seminar sponsors for the event are Allina Health: Penny George Institute, Thrivent Financial, AAA Minneapolis, Tealwood Senior Living, rb LEGAL and National Dizzy and Balance Center.
Silver Sponsors are Arrowwood Lodge & Resort, Lunds & Byerlys, Budget Hearing Centers, HealthPartners, AdvaCare Clinics and Across Country Tours & Tourco Travel.
Editor’s note: ECM Publishers is a sponsor of the ourLife expo.
