People flocked to Maple Plain for the annual Maple Plain Days festival that took place Thursday, Aug. 14, through Saturday, Aug. 16. Thursday’s activities included a community picnic and a movie in the park. Local fire departments gathered in town Friday for the waterball challenge. Saturday’s events started in the morning and stretched until nearly midnight. There was a 5K, softball tournament, farmers market, classic car show, activities for children, parade and live music. This year, the city of Independence sponsored some of the events. The plan is for the two cities to fully collaborate on a festival next summer.
