AUG. 15-16 — Don’t miss Corcoran Country Days Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15 and 16, back for 2014 Bigfoot monster truck car crash demonstration during the free family day.

Kids can build a birdfeeder, play on inflatable’s, plus there’s food games pony rides trout fishing pond and more Saturday 11 to 5 bands under the big top include the swamp hounds on Friday night and Shane Martin band Saturday night free with food shelf donation. Fireworks Saturday at dark.

Burschville Fest

AUG. 17 — North Hennepin Pioneer Society is hosting the Burschville School Summer Fest Sunday, Aug. 17, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the school on County Rd. 10 4 miles west of downtown Corcoran. Early bird drawing at 12:30 p.m. Raffles, pork chops, food wagon, country music by the Jammers, kids games, grab bags face painting, school house tours, door prizes and two sets of Twins tickets, gift cards and gas cards.

Mother/daughter fashion show

AUG. 20 — STMA Women of Today Mother Daughter Tea & Fashion Show is Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Michael City Hall.

National Tractor Pull

AUG. 23 — The National Tractor Pullers will hold a championship event beginning at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 at Corcoran Lions Park, 20121 County Road 10. Competitions will feature super farm tractors, pro farm tractors, pro stock semis, four wheel drive trucks, two wheel drive trucks and heavy super stock tractors. Admission cost is $15 for adults ages 13 and above, $5 for children ages five through 12 and free for children ages four years and under.

Laurencia’s Victory 5K

AUG. 23 — Laurencia’s Victory, a newly formed nonprofit supporting orphans, adoptive families, and others in need, is having their first major fundraising event at 8:30 am Saturday, Aug. 23. The event will be held starting at the Public Works building in St. Michael and will be an “out and back” 5k race. There will be races for little ones of all ages (including a diaper derby) and many great prizes and surprises for all. The event is a “birthday party” for Laurencia and her surviving identical twin, Valencia. Laurencia died shortly after birth last year Aug. 26 due to anencephaly. Laurencia’s Victory was founded by their mother, Katrina (Dehmer) Witschen, to help children and families in need in honor of her daughter’s life and to build a legacy of hope in despair.
