Community market

NOW THROUGH OCT. 17 – A community market will be open on Fridays between 3 and 7 p.m. at the Rockford Mall parking lot (inside in bad weather) through Oct. 17. Look for fresh farm produce, local products like honey and syrup, crafts, jewelry and a wide assortment of items. The fee for vendors is $5 per date, or $30 for the season. Chamber of Commerce

JULY 10 – On Thursday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m., the Rockford-Greenfield Chamber of Commerce will have a luncheon meeting at the Wright Hennepin Electric facility (on the north side of Highway 55 and the west side of the Rockford Mall). Corcoran council

JULY 10 — Corcoran City Council will meet Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. at city hall at 8200 County Rd. 116.

Hamel Rodeo is coming

JULY 10 – 13 — The Hamel Rodeo will return to Corcoran Lions Park Thursday, July 10 through Sunday, July 13. The park is located on County Road 10 west of County Road 101. Performances will take place every day at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Family Day, a matinee performance will begin at 1 p.m. Family Day offerings will include fun activities for kids.

Volley for a Cause

JULY 12 — Play volleyball and help raise funds for operating costs for the Rockford’s historical Stork House on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Riverside Park in Rockford. Registration information can be found at

Science Explorers 

Wizard School

JULY 14 — Children in grades K–5 are invited to a Science Explorers Wizard School at the St. Michael Public Library Monday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Become an apprentice as you learn the science behind the magic. Harness electricity, create potions and explore alchemy in this hands-on class sponsored by the St. Michael Friends of the Library. JULY 14 — The Rockford Lions meet monthly on the second and third Mondays, at 7 p.m. in the Lions Building at Riverside Park. Stop in and check out this fun and growing club. JULY 16 — Hanover Zion United Methodist Church will be having their annual ice cream social Wednesday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. The church is located at 1010 River Rd NE in Hanover. Read to Taurus

JULY 19 — Young readers (grades K-3) are invited to sign up to read to Taurus, a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog, at the St. Michael Public Library on Saturday, July 19, 10 a.m. to noon. Taurus is a very patient listener. Reading to him helps encourage young readers who lack confidence. Sign up for a 15 minute session. Bring your own book or choose one from the library. Ice cream social

JULY 23 — Immanuel United Methodist Church will be having their annual ice cream social Wednesday, July 23, from 5  to 7 p.m. The menu will be sloppy joes, hot dogs with all the trimmings, root beer by the keg, pie and ice cream. There will be activities for the children such as face painting and fish pond. Theme baskets will be available for silent auction bidding. A free will offering will be taken with the proceeds going toward mission projects. AUG. 4 — Hanover City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. at city hall on 11250 Fifth St. instead of Tuesday, Aug. 5 because of Tuesday’s Night to Unite celebrations.

Greenfield Night to Unite

AUG. 5 — Greenfield will celebrate Night to Unite from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Central Park, 7200 Greenfield Road. Bring family, friends, and lawn chairs. Enjoy hotdogs, the new playground and visits with Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office will offer a canine demonstration at 6:30 p.m. Night to Unite encourages law enforcement, communities and neighbors to get to know one another and help each other keep communities safe.

Three Rivers Progressive Forum

4TH TUESDAYS — There will be a Three Rivers Progressive Forum on the fourth Tuesday of each month, at Dehn’s Country Manor, 11291 Fernbrook Lane, in Dayton. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7. This month we’re pleased to have Katie Rodriquez, District 1 Representative of the Metropolitan Council as our guest. She will be speaking on the workings of the Met Council: its organization, mission, goals, and accomplishments.
