Maple Grove Days, July 9 to 13, offers many opportunities for family and friends to join together in individual and team competitions. Registration forms are available now.
Is someone a sleuth? Then the Medallion Hunt is the gig for them. Be the first to solve the mystery of where it is hidden and win the $500 prize. To claim prize, people must have purchased a MGD’s Button of Savings, available at the Maple Grove Community Center or from Ambassador Candidates.
For the creative competitor, parents can help their children design their entry from a trike, wagon, bike or themselves as they march along in the Kids Parade. Even the youngest member of the family can join the race in the Diaper Derby. Both events take place at the Town Green on Friday evening.
Float-A-Boat is a vessel people, their siblings, friends or family create to float down the Community Center Lazy River holding a 24-pack of soda without getting wet. More group fun abounds racing a bed down Main Street in the 7th Annual Bed Races. It’s a great competition for businesses and those who like to help a great cause. All funds benefit the 40 Winks Foundation, which purchases bed and bedding for local CROSS clients and CROSS Bridging, Inc. There’s no time to nap as the competition is moving fast.
Stretch those legs, on your mark, get set, GO. No matter what your age, there is a race for everyone. The 18th Annual Rice Lake Classic (limited to first 350 pre-registered applicants) and the Kids Fun Run around North Arbor Lake, are both held on Saturday morning.
How about a game with a racquet of choice? Singles and doubles matches, for teens on up, are available at various court locations for the ninth Annual Tennis Tournament. Sign up at www.freewebs.com/maplegrovetennis. The popular Pickleball Competition on Thursday is fun for all 19 years and forward.
Take the friendly challenge at the Duplicate Bridge Tournament on Thursday. Teens, there’s team spirit or individual competition just for people at the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, the Junior Golf Tournament, and Capture the Flag at Weaver Lake Park. Or people may enjoy designing a stylish fashion creation for the Duct Tape Contest and Fashion Show.
Offered once again is the Cornhole Tournament on Saturday with money at stake. Sand, ball spiking and serving skills will get you competing at the Volleyball Tournament on Sunday. All competitions to claim the title of Maple Grove Day’s Champions.
Even the car buff has an opportunity to join the competition on Main Street, as vehicles are judged in the “Top 10” Classic Car Show.
For more information and registration forms for these activities, please visit the Maple Grove Days website at www.maplegrovedays.org. Some events are limited so sign up early.
