The Maple Grove Rainbow Foods locations will soon be looking for a new owner.
It was announced last week that the owner of Rainbow Foods, Roundy’s, is selling its 27 Twin Cities stores.
Ten of the area Rainbow stores will be turned into Cub Foods stores. These include: Chaska, Eagan, Lakeville, Minneapolis (Lagoon), Minneapolis (Quarry), Oakdale, Plymouth, Roseville, St. Louis Park and St. Paul.
The stores in Eden Prairie and Woodbury will be Byerly’s.
There will be six stores that will be sold but remain Rainbow Foods. These stores are located in: Maplewood, Minneapolis (Lake Street), Plymouth (Plymouth Station), Richfield, St. Paul (Midway) and West St. Paul.
The Maple Grove store and eight other remaining Rainbow Foods locations are to be sold if a buyer can be found, or closed if no one comes forward to purchase them.
“If Rainbow is closing it will be a loss,” Maple Grove City Administrator Al Madsen said.
He added the store has provided a great shopping opportunity to residents and businesses in that area. “It provided a shopping arena not as hectic as others but still provided great prices and service,” he said.
