STMA boys tennis improves to 8-0

STMA boys tennis had a very successful week going 4-0 to improve their record to 8-0.

 

ROGERS

“Thursday STMA had a close match with Rogers, but I thought our experience really showed in the big points,” coach Jim Riles said.

Singles — #1 Jimmy Li lost 1-6, 5-7 . “I thought he really battled in the 2nd set,” coach Riles said. #2 John Budde won 6-2, 6-2. #3 Taylor Rothstein won 6-3, 6-1. #4 Aaron Dorland won 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles — #1 Zach House/Denver Robak won 6-1, 6-0, #2 Joe Hebeisen/Grant Moser won 6-2, 6-1, #3 Josh Alexander/Cody Jones won 7-5, 6-3, #4 Dylan Smith/Zander Nagengast lost 6-2, 2-6, 4-6.

 

NORTH BRANCH

“We really overwhelmed a very in experienced North Branch team 7-0 on Frida,” Coach Riles said.

Singles — #1 Jimmy Li won 6-0, 6-0, #2 John Budde won 6-0, 6-0, #3 Taylor Rothstein won 6-1, 6-0, #4 Aaron Dorland won 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles — #1 Zach House/Denver won 6-0, 6-0, #2 Joe Hebeisen/Grant Moser won 6-0, 6-0, #3 Josh Alexander/Cody Jones won 6-0, 6-1.

“This improved our conference record to 4-0,” Riles said.

 

Sartell

The Knights go undefeated in their own tri by winning 5-2 over Sartell and 6-1 over Coon Rapids.

Singles — #1 Jimmy Li won 6-1, 6-0, #2 John Budde won 6-3, 7-6×1, #3 Taylor Rothstein lost 2-6, 1-6, #4 Aaron Dorland won 6-1, 6-3.

Doubles — #1 Zach House/Denver Robak lost 6-7×6, 3-6, #2 Joe Hebeisen/Grant Moser won 6-2, 6-4, #3 Josh Alexander/Cody Jones won 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 and #4 Dylan Smith/Jake Petersen won 2-6, 7-6×4, 10-8.

 

COON RAPIDS

“In the Coon Rapids match we need to change up our doubles because Denver Robak is not ready to play to matches in one day,” Riles said. We really needed some players to step up and they did!”

Singles — #1 Jimmy Li won 6-2, 6-4 Jimmy is now 5-3 and doing a great job, #2 John Budde won 6-0, 7-5 John has really stepped up this season in singles and is now 8-0, #3 Taylor Rothstein lost 4-6, 2-6 Taylor is 5-3 on the season, #4 Aaron Dorland won 6-3, 6-2 Aaron has been very consistent and is 7-1 so far.

Doubles — #1 Zach House/Joe Hebeisen won 6-3, 7-6×3 Zach is 7-1 and Joe is 8-0 in doubles so far, #2 Grant Moser/Josh Alexander won 6-0, 6-0 Grant is 7-0 and Josh is 7-1 in doubles so far, #3 Cody Jones/Dylan Smith won 6-3, 6-4 Cody is 7-1 and Dylan is 4-0 on the season.

G”reat effort by all the players,” Riles said. “We will have a busy week coming up with 4 matches this week. Home Monday with Champlin Park, at St. Francis on Tuesday, at Princeton Wednesday, and at Big Lake on Thursday.”
