Two Rogers High School hockey players (Class of 2010) are now seniors on the University of St. Thomas Women’s Hockey Team and recently played in the NCAA D3 Frozen Four in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Lauren Mumm and Andrea Bishop have been playing hockey together since they were 5 years old. They started in the Elk River Youth Hockey program, played in the Rogers Youth Hockey program, and then both played for Rogers High School until they graduated in 2010. Now they finished their senior year as teammates on the University of St. Thomas Women’s Hockey Team.

The UST hockey team secured the MIAC conference title. It won the MIAC Playoff championship, and then shutout UW Stevens Point (at UWSP), 5-0, to win the NCAA quarterfinals game.

The team then competed in its first appearance in the Frozen Four for UST Women’s hockey.

They were defeated by #1 ranked SUNY Plattsburgh 0-1 in overtime, in what many said was was the best game of the tournament.

Gustavus has won the MIAC conference for the last nine years and the playoff championship the last 10 years. UST won the MIAC conference in 2003 and 2004. UST won the playoff championship in 2004.

UST had never won the quarterfinals round of the NCAA tournament.
