Basketball: Royal girls lose to Staple-Motley 59-51 in regular-season finale

The Rogers Royals lost their finale regular-season game to Staple-Motley 59-51 on Saturday at Staples.

Jaelin Beachy led Staples-Motley (18-6) with 16 points.

Lindsay Dorr scored 16, Marina Nowak 14 and Bella Wilson 10 for Rogers (14-12). The Royals shot 20-for-61 from the field and 9-for-11 from the line.

In earlier action, the Royals won their conference finale 67-56 over the St. Francis Saints at home on Friday evening.

Bailey Miller sank 14 points, Hannah Sjerven 11, Taylor Anderson 11 and Lindsay Dorr eight for the Royals, who finished 7-7 in the Mississippi 8.

The Royals, seeded fifth in Section 8AAAA, were to duel No. 4 Buffalo in the quarterfinals Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville, 6 p.m.
