Basketball: Miss. 8 champ Buffalo stymies Royal boys 55-43

The Buffalo Bison wrapped up the Missisippi 8 championship with a 55-43 conquest of the Rogers Royals on Friday evening in Rogers.

In their 15th straight win, the Bison were led by Collin Olmscheid with 20 points and Levi Bean with 14.

The Bison (12-0 conference, 19-5 overall) held Rogers’ standout 6-9 center Cole Murray to six points. Lance Lendl and Joey Simpson with nine each were high scorers for the Royals (4-8 conference, 9-14 overall).

In earlier action, it was a seniors outlasting underclassmen as the Big Lake Hornets beat the Rogers Royals 87-79 Feb. 11 evening in Big Lake.

Allen Wilson, sophomore guard, scored 27 points for Rogers (4-8 conference, 9-13 overall), while sophomore forward Steffan Musoke had 19 and junior guard Gunnar Bloom 11.

For the Hornets, Austin Poe scored 32 points, Tyler Halvorson 20, Sam Dokkebakkken 16 and Michael Doperalski 16. All are seniors.

Rogers was to play at St. Michael-Albertville on Tuesday.
