Osseo grapplers look ahead to sections

The Osseo wrestling team dropped both ends of a triangular Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Blaine. The Orioles were defeated by section favorite Centennial 53-9 and later by the Bengals 46-30. They then fell to Mounds View 37-22 in the final regular season dual Jan. 31.

“We have two weeks before team sections to be healthy and ready to go,” said Oriole coach Alan Wiley. “We are optimistic and looking forward to the tournaments.”

Junior tri-captain Carson Brolsma completed his regular season run with three more wins to finish 35-1 heading into the post season. Senior tri-captain Ryan Swenson celebrated senior night and his final home match of his career with a victory and also picked up a win against Centennial.

Freshman Nicholas Carline also recorded a pair of wins last week, including his 20th varsity season win, joining classmate Mitchell Lewison who also recently earned reaching that milestone.

Also recognized for his outstanding career on senior night was tri-captain Andrew Lanners, a 2013 state entrant and five time OHS wrestling letterman. Other senior wrestlers recognized included Isahak Osman, Badhassa Wako, Jacob Girts and Doug Sorrentino.
