Highlights from some of the Osseo, Maple Grove high teams:


Maple Grove 

Girls’ Basketball

Kaela Jones and MacKenzie Barta both scored 21 points to lead the Crimson to a 74-65 win over Andover Jan. 13. Three nights later, the Crimson fell 55-44 to Park Center. Jones was the only Crimson in double figure with 13 points.

Maple Grove next hosts Wayzata Friday, Jan. 24.

Boys’ Basketball

The Crimson extended their win streak to five games with a 53-52 home win over Park Center Friday, Jan. 17. Nine Crimson scored with Brad Davison leading the way with 10 points. Reed Nikko and Jake Sterling each added 8.

Maple Grove beat Anoka 76-35 Jan. 15. Matt Lindgren and Davison each scored 13 points, and Brian Fotso added 11.

Davison erupted for 24 points and Lindgren added 13 in MG’s 54-43 win at Andover Jan. 13.

The Crimson next visits Hopkins Thursday, Jan. 23.


Girls’ Basketball

The Orioles defeated Elk River 65-62 Jan. 14 with a very good defensive effort starting in the first half holding the Elks to 25 points. Balanced scoring, which has been the hallmark of the team, was again evident. Kiara Russell and Ayo Porte had 14 points, Madi Malone 13 and Cat Etheridge had 10.

Osseo then lost to Anoka 61-48 last Friday. Courtney Calkins led Osseo with 12 points and Etheridge had 10 points.

The Orioles next visit Andover Friday, Jan. 24.

Boys’ Basketball

Four Orioles scored in double figures in Osseo’s 78-50 win over Elk River Jan. 14. Wheeler Baker led the way with 23 points, Ian Theisen added 15 and Jordan Dembley and Elliot Kane each had 10.

Baker and Dembley each netted 19 points to lead Osseo to a 70-34 win over Anoka Jan. 17. It was Osseo’s seventh straight victory.

Osseo next hosts Andover Friday, Jan. 24.

Swim And Dive

Osseo beat Armstrong 99-76 Jan. 16.

Osseo took first in the 200 medley relay (Jonah Smith, Kyle Pederson, Jake Rear, Joe Beaman), in the 200 free relay ( Rear, Dylan Croonquist, Tim Van Laarhoven, Nolan Vander Ploeg) and in the 400 free relay (Van Laarhoven, Rear, Croonquist, Vander Ploeg)

Other top finishers were:

Van Laarhoven took first in the 200 individual medley and in the 100 freestyle; Sam Bethke took second in diving; Luke Churchill took third  in the 100 breaststroke; Ben Gerber took third in the 100 backstroke; Jared Nelson took third in the 100 butterfly; Pederson took first in the 100 breaststroke, Dennis Pham took third in the 200 individual medley and third in the 500 freestyle; Brad Rasmussen took third in the 100 freestyle; Smith took second in the 100 backstroke; Croonquist took second in the 50 freestyle, Josh Deruyter took second in the 200 freestyle and 2nd in the 500 freestyle; Rear took 1st in the 100 butterfly, Joseph Nelson took 2nd in the 100 butterfly, Vander Ploeg took first in the 200 freestyle and first in the 500 freestyle
