Highlights from some of the Osseo, Maple Grove high teams:

Girls’ Basketball

The Crimson scored 83 points but gave up 90 and lost the shoot-out against Elk River Jan. 3.  Maple Grove battled back from a 45-28 first half deficit to within three points but could not get even. Maple Grove’s Kaela Jones (25 points) and Mary Eckberg (22 points) both had four three-pointers in the game. Maple Grove next visits Blaine Thursday, Jan. 9.

Boys’ Basketball

Centennial defeated Maple Grove 58-47 Jan. 3. The Crimson managed just 15 points in the first half and could not close the gap in the second half. Brad Davison led MG with 15 points, Matt Lindgren had nine and Tywhon Pickford 8.

Prior to the conference game, the Crimson went two for two at the Bethel Tournament, beating Minnehaha Academy 60-35 and Bloomington Jefferson 44-40.

Maple Grove next hosts Blaine Thursday, Jan. 9.

OSSEO

BOYS’ HOCKEY

The Orioles lost at Centennial 9-3 Jan. 4. They had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 behind goals by Ben Christofferson and trailed just 4-3 after one period. But the Cougars scored the next five goals to win going away. Mason Hautala scored the other Osseo goal.

Osseo next hosts Coon Rapids Thursday, Jan. 9 and visits Elk River Saturday, Jan. 11.
