The Rockford High School Gymnastics team began practicing in their new training facility, located at the middle school, in late November.

The new gymnastics facility offers high-quality training equipment with the addition of an in-ground foam pit, single bar trainer, tumble track and rod floor; as well as bars, beams, spring floor and vaults, which were transferred from the high school. Volunteers spent a weekend disassembling, hauling, and reassembling the equipment from the high school to the middle school.

The high school team is trained by Head Coach Jessica Johnson and Assistant Coach Mike Erickson. Consisting of 24 gymnasts in grades 8 through 12, the team is led by returning seniors Mikayla Erickson, Amber Sahli and Danielle Patnode.

The new gymnastics facility will be used year-round with the addition of the Rocket Gymnastics Club, a new Rockford Community Education program. The club offers training for boys and girls beginning at age 18 months through high school. The club is currently serving more than 200 students.
