The Alpine Ski co-op of Osseo, Maple Grove, Elk River and Park Center has taken on a new name – Northwest Alpine this season.
They hope for new success this season too. The boys’ team took third in the Northwest Suburban Conference last season, and the girls’ team finished fifth. Many skiers from both teams are returning from those teams.
“Numbers and depth will make us strong,” Northwest coach Jennifer Wangen said.
On the girls’ team, Mackenzie Koch returns after a big season. She took the conference individual title and reached state for the second time. All-conference skiers Emma Wangen and Elizabeth Wangen also return.
The boys’ team will have all-conference skiers Jack Barr and Connor Koch back. Graduation did thin out the team a little with Matt Miner and Jarred Wangen gone.
The Alpine opened the season Dec. 17 at Trollhaugen. The boys’ team took third out of 10 teams scoring a total of 517 points.
