The host Crimson grabbed a 3-1 lead in the second period on goals by Summer Thibodeau, Taylor Wendt and Samantha Boonstra but Blaine scored two power play goals to tie it early in the third and went ahead with about 2 minutes left in the third period. The Crimson tied it when Abby Larson split the Blaine defense, took a pass from Katie Josephson and scored on a breakaway with 1:32 left to send the game into overtime. The Crimson stormed Blaine’s goal in the OT but could not get the game-winner.

The Crimson entered the game riding a three-game winning streak and goalies Breanna Blesi and Coco Francis combined on three straight shutouts against Coon Rapids, Andover and North Metro.

Maple Grove next visits North St. Paul Thursday, Dec. 5 and entertains Buffalo Saturday, Dec. 7.
