Champlin adopts final 2014 budget

The Champlin City Council will meet Monday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall.

Following the meeting, there will be an Economic Development Authority work session regarding the Mississippi Crossings project in the council conference room.

The Dec. 23 city council meeting will be cancelled and city hall will close at noon Tuesday, Dec. 24 and will remain closed though Wednesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday.

There will be a council work session Monday, Jan. 13 before the council meeting at 5:45 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

At the Dec. 9 meeting, the council will hear special presentations regarding the council committee quarterly reports as well as an overview of the work session discussion.

Consent agenda items include an acceptance of donations received by the city of Champlin in 2013, establishing the date for the legislative work session, hearing a reading regarding an amendment of the fees and vacant building registration program and an approval of the 2014 business licenses. Other items include a resolution amending the 2013 adopted budget, the adoption of the 2014-2023 capital improvement plan, amending utilities and an approval of computer software license agreement with Hennepin County.

Under public hearings, the council will review a resolution adopting the 2014 budget and establish fund appropriations, approve the tax levy for 2014 operating budget appropriations and approve a tax levy for 2014 EDA operating budge appropriations.

Under new business, there is a recommendation regarding proposed amendments to the street light and street assessment policies and a request for the approval of the contract with Newport Partners for solar installation.
