Armstrong boys are second in NWSC cross country

Champlin Park ends up 10th

The Robbinsdale Armstrong boys cross country team continued its solid fall by placing second in the Northwest Suburban Conference championships Oct. 10 at Elk River Golf Course.

Centennial was the overall champion on the boys side, totaling 47 points. Armstrong ended up with 82, Maple Grove and Andover finished with 98 apiece to tie for third, while area teams Osseo (fifth), Champlin Park (10th) and Park Center (11th) also competed.

Senior Jon Delaney paced the Falcons by finishing third overall with a 5-kilometer time of 16 minutes, 43.8 seconds. Senior Nathan Comer was next for Armstrong, placing 14th overall. Junior Ben Kaufman was 20th, junior Justin Brecheisen was 22nd and junior Tim Hill rounded out Armstrong’s scoring runners by placing 23rd in the 103-runner event.

Osseo was led by Alex Naughton, Mitch Cramer and Adam Berkowitz, who placed 10th, 11th and 16th respectively.

Champlin Park’s top finisher was sophomore Aaron Kloeppner, who was 45th overall. Park Center was led by junior Rob Johnson, who placed 28th.

Coon Rapids was crowed team champion in the girls completion. Anoka was second, Maple Grove third, and area teams from Armstrong finished 6th, Osseo placed 8th, Park Center 9th and Champlin Park 11th.

Armstrong senior Anna Nachbor was the top finisher after placing fourth overall by finishing her 4-kilomter race in 15:32.4. Osseo was led by Maddy Hvidston, who was 11th. Ann Simonet placed 16th to lead Park Center, and Champlin Park junior Katherine Novak was the Rebels top finisher after placing 46th.
