Maple Grove Police Department responded Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6:12 a.m., to the Burger King at 13840 Grove Drive N. on a report of an armed robbery.
Employees reported they were approached while opening the store by a white male with a semi-automatic handgun wearing a gray zip up jacket, black ski mask, and gloves.
The suspect demanded money and ordered the employees into the cooler. The suspect left the business in a dark in color, possibly a Dodge Durango with an undetermined amount of cash.
Police believe the gunman has struck before. The first similar robbery was in Sauk Rapids and St. Cloud. The next was Sept. 14 in Big Lake, then two more in Clearwater and Monticello.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office investigated the armed robbery that occurred Sept. 20 at the Monticello Burger King at 200 Seventh St. E.
The sheriff’s office was notified the armed robbery at 5:18 a.m. Sept. 19. A white male wearing all black clothing and a ski mask approached a store employee when the restaurant was being opened, the sheriff’s office reported.
The suspect showed a black handgun and forced the employee into the store, taking an undetermined amount of money. Officers checked the area but did not find a suspect, the news release stated.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office also investigated an incident that occurred at 12:43 a.m. the same morning at a Burger King located in Clearwater.
An employee was leaving the store’s parking lot at 945 Ash St. in a vehicle Sept. 19 when a male subject tapped on the vehicle’s window with a black handgun. The suspect was described as being dressed in all black. An area search did not locate the suspect.
