STMA teams to host 8K road race

The St. Michael-Albertville High School Boys Soccer Team along with the St. Michael-Albertville High School Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams will be jointly putting on the First Annual Twi-Knight 8K Road Race on Saturday evening Aug. 3rd\\, with the start and finish at the St. Michael Rec. Center (3150 Lander Ave. in St. Michael).

The race starts near the Rec. Center entrance, runs south along the Crow River, into Hanover, where the course makes a loop, then continues north along the river, on the same road that it went out on, finishing where it started, near the Rec. Center entrance. The course is considered fast, flat, and scenic. Race start time is 6:45 p.m., with race-day registration from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3rd.

Runners may register on-line by going to or mail-in registration(see flyer on website mentioned). Cost for the race is $20, before midnight Aug. 1st, or $25 on race-day.

The race is sanctioned and distance certified by Minnesota-USA Track & Field Federation. The race is sponsored by Minnesota National Guard and a St. Michael Twi-Knight 8K T-shirt is included in the cost for each entrant. The National Guard will have activities and attractions for adults and children set up. Concessions will be available from the St. Michael-Albertville High School “Fellowship of Christian Athletes”

organization and the race will also act as a “drop-off site” for the Hanover Food Shelf.

Runners and/or spectators are welcome to contribute a free-will offering of money or items to the Hanover charity. Items most needed are: canned goods, cereal, toilet paper, and shampoo.
