Library’s Dog Day Afternoons

JUNE 20 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, the golden retriever, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Annie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels. Color or do puzzles while you wait. Annie will be on hand the third Thursday of each month after school. Future dates are July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21. 28th Annual Ridgeview Golf & Taste Celebration

JUNE 24 — Proceeds from this year’s event will again be used to support the Innovation for Generations campaign, with funds raised to further enhance the care and comfort of patients. Each year, Ridgeview’s Annual Golf & Taste Celebration entails much more than golf, including bridge and Bunco tournaments, the Taste of the Ridgeview Region featuring delicious specialties and beverages from some of the area’s finest restaurants, a buffet dinner; silent and live auctions and an abundance of raffle prizes. Kid Power with Rachael 

JUNE 25 — A performance of Kid Power with Rachael Kroog will take place at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, Children of all ages are invited to this fun, interactive, variety show that will include original songs and music, cartoon impressions and live animals. Rachael is a veteran performer from Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, and she has performed her motivational Kid Power show at more than 1,500 elementary schools, churches and special events across the country. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

It’s Just Coffee

JUNE 25 — Come meet your Greenfield neighbors, share a cup of coffee and talk. Bring a friend and join in the fun.  It’s Just Coffee meets the last Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. at Riverwood Covenant Church (7189 69th Ave. N). Your memories of Greenfield history are always welcome as this is also the home of The Greenfield Historical Society. Coffee and treats are provided.

Chef Challenge 

JUNE 26 — Teens and preteens ages nine to 14 are invited to the third annual Chef Challenge taking place at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. on Wednesday, June 26. Participants will create surprising concoctions using tasty “secret” ingredients. Attendance limit is 12 for each of three consecutive sessions running from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration in advance is required. Wow Van visit

JUNE 27 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Rockford City Staff Retirement

JUNE 28 — Mary Huettl will retire from her longstanding position at Rockford City Hall, and a party in her honor will be Friday, June 28, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Billy’s Bar and Grill, 8060 Highway 55 in Rockford. There will be appetizers, a cash bar, and the opportunity to wish the guest of honor great success going forward.

DHS Class of ‘63 reunion

JUNE 29 — The Delano High School Class of 1963 is planning a 50th reunion celebration for Saturday, June 29, at B’s on the River, 1455 County Road 27 in Watertown. Around the World Safely Benefit

JUNE 30 — The Around the World Safely Benefit will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at Woodland Hill Winery, located at 731 County Road 30 SE, west of Delano. The event will benefit ClearCause Foundation, which supports safety of thousands of Minnesota youth and students who are encouraged to travel and study abroad each year. Fox 9 News Reporter Maury Glover will emcee this dinner event. Activities will include a silent auction, wine tasting, bonfire, carriage rides and more. Remarkable Reptiles

JULY 2 — People of all ages are invited to a presentation on Remarkable Reptiles by Minnesota author James Gerholdt at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2. Find out how a snake moves and a lizard senses aromas. Gerholdt has published books about spiders, snakes, bugs and birds. His presentation will include live reptiles and will be funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

JULY 6 — The first Thursday and Saturday of the month (through Oct. 5) a cooperative of vendors will be selling handcrafted items, antiques, plants and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rockford Mall (west end of Rockford on the north side of Highway 55), rain or shine.
