Rockford celebrates 2013 grads in a moving, motivating ceremony

The Rockford Community Center was the venue of Rockford High School’s 96th Commencement Ceremony. Graduates of the class of 2013 were recognized by teachers and District 883 board officials for completing this part of their of their education in a ceremony that included several highlights and showcased the musical talents of their peers. Selections were performed by the Rockford High School Band, directed by Jerald Ferdig, and the RHS Senior and A Cappella Choirs, directed by Brandy Gullickson. Karsten Poulson, Senior Class President, welcomed everyone to the ceremony.  Carissa Aarsvold and McCormick Deering, class valedictorians, presented the Senior Address. Caroline Young, RHS Social Studies teacher, delivered the Faculty Address. District 883 Superintendent, Paul Durand, introduced district leaders, retirees and members of the Rockford Area Schools Board of Education. Ryan Jensen, RHS Principal, introduced the class of 2013 and, with Durand, awarded graduates their diplomas.

Also recognized during the evening were William Halverstadt of Corcoran with an Honorary Diploma and Dr. Perry Buffie as a Distinguished Alumni.

Honor students of this class are Ashley Dick, Joseph Jorges, Jaclyn Kariniemi, Brant Lahti, Nkaujntsa Lee, Mitchell Martick, Madison Reed, Elizabeth Riedberger, Madisen Sahli, Rachel Seppala and Samantha Trittabaugh.

The evening was a fitting tribute to members of the Rockford High School Class of 2013 and their new status as graduates, as well as those who helped them achieve this success.
