The Delano Public Library begins its Summer Reading Programs for teens and children on Monday, June 10 and the official kickoff event is the annual Ice Cream Social, set for 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the library, located at 160 Railroad Ave. E.
People of all ages are invited to stop at the Ice Cream Social, visit with the Wright County Dairy Ambassadors, eat ice cream and pick out books to read. Children can register for the Summer Reading Program and sign up to win a prize basket. This event will take place at the gazebo adjacent to the Delano Library. It is sponsored by the Wright County Dairy Association and the Delano Friends of the Library.
The Summer Reading Program theme for children from birth through sixth grade is “Dig into Reading.” It includes a special baby/toddler program. The program theme for teens and preteens in grades six through 12 is “Beneath the Surface.” The Summer Reading Programs include incentives and prizes to encourage children to continue reading throughout the summer.
