Senior Jordan Peters of Delano was the Wright County Conference boys golf medalist for the second year in a row. He posted an eight-meet total of 351, winning over Matt Rachey of Waconia by eight strokes.

Sophomore Ben Nesenson (18) and junior Seth MacLeod (24) were honorable mention. Delano placed fifth as a team in a highly competitive conference. Other team leaders were ninth-grader Austin vanSytzama (30), senior Matt Peterson (40) and junior Michael Bartos (56).

Delano gained momentum for the section tournament that started Thursday, May 30 at Pebble Creek in Becker by winning last week’s 12-team Charger Invitational hosted by Dassel-Cokato at Albion Ridges.

“It was very, very wet as it rained the whole match, but the Tigers found a way to sneak out a narrow one-stroke victory over Waconia,” said coach Jon Moen.

Peters was the top golfer at the tourney, shooting 72. He was followed by ninth-grader Austin vanSytzama (80), Nesenson (84), Bartos (84), Trey Soukup (87) and James Sprengler (91).

The Tiger girls were in seventh place in the 10-team conference after the event at New London-Spicer last week. Jessie Gallagher tied for 24th, followed by Kelsie Nelson (32) and Kjersten Moen (42)
