The city of Maple Grove will celebrate Arbor Day with several fun activities and events for everyone in the community. The annual event will be Saturday, May 18, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12851 Weaver Lake Road.
The University of Minnesota Raptor Center will present a show, as well as a the Splatter Sisters with their environmental show.
Those attending the Arbor Day festivities can get information on: emerald ash borer, buckthorn, tree and garden advice by Master Gardeners and Tree Care Advisors and also a tree inventory booth.

The Home Depot is sponsoring a bird feeder building event.
Free tree seedlings will be handed out (while supplies last) as well as flower pots and seeds. There will also be a raffle drawing for free trees.
Other events on May 18 include a plant exchange and city boulevard beautification.
The 12th Annual Perennial Plant Exchange will begin at 9:30 a.m. New and experienced gardeners are invited to come and trade their perennial plants, in pots or plastic bags. This event is free and will take place in the community center parking lot, near the skate park. For more information or to register, call 763-494-6535.
Beautifying the Boulevards is a way for residents to volunteer that morning to help plant flowerbeds along Weaver Lake Raod and Elm Creek Boulevard. Supervised children ages 10 and up and adults are invited to participate. Two hundred volunteers are needed to help. To volunteer call 763-494-5956.
