Chad Krueser, a soccer and golf athlete who took up running as an adult, is the new cross-country coach at Rogers High School.

“Running has become a passion of mine,” said Kreuser, who has run 11 marathons in the last six years, “and I am excited to take over the cross country program.”

Kreuser played soccer and golf at Elk River High School. The UM-Duluth graduate has been Rogers boys soccer assistant coach under Chris Miller all 10 years of the program. He teaches physical education at Rogers Middle School.

Activities director Dan Ohlgren announced the hiring of Krueser, who succeeds Steve Leuer, the only coach Rogers has had in CC.

Kreuser said he’s been working with Elk River coach Mike Niziolek in setting up a District 728 meet that would include the Elks, Zimmerman and other schools, slated for Oct. 3 at Fox Hollow Golf Course.

Kreuser and his wife Lindsey recently had their first child, a girl named Kinley.
