Luverne R. Hanson (Pasenow), 77, of Glen Carbon, Ill., died March 12 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
She was born Feb. 19, 1936, on the family farm in Greenwood Township, Minn., the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Adelheid Jeske Pasenow. Surviving is her sister Lila (Helmut) Wipprecht of Colbalt, Ont., nieces Susan (Dieter) Scheunemann of Naughton, Ont. and Mary (Terry) Andrews of Lively, Ont., nephews John Wipprecht of North Bay, Ont., Fred (Lori) Pagenkopf of Minnetonka, Jim Hanson of Brainerd, and Loren Hanson of Maple Grove.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Hanson, sister Eleanor Pagenkopf and her brothers Leonard and Folbert Pasenow.
Mel and Luverne met while working at the University of Minnesota, married in 1966 and moved to Glen Carbon when Mel accepted a position as professor at Southern Illinois University. Luverne spent over 40 years in Glen Carbon with Mel tending to their beloved cats and landscaped yard at 3012 Mark Trail Dr.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal, Minn., with visitation on hour before the service. Interment will be at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wis.
