Library photo exhibit
THROUGH MARCH 30 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. will host its 15th Annual Photo Exhibit through March 30 during library open hours. Area amateur and professional photographers are exhibiting their work.
Friday Fish Fries
MARCH 15 — The Heinzen-Ditter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary will offer Friday Fish Fries during Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. at the VFW Post, 19020 Hamel Road on the Medina/Plymouth border. Takeouts will be available. Fish fry dates are March 15, 22 and 29.
Messages in Pictures
MARCH 16 — Minnesota author Patrick Mader will give an interactive presentation titled “Messages In Pictures” at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16. He will discuss the writing and publishing process, and invite his audience to find hidden pictures, foreshadowing and symbols in illustrations from his children’s books. All ages are invited. The program is funded with donations from the library’s High $5 fundraising appeal.
Luck of the Irish dinner
MARCH 16 — “Luck of the Irish Pot ‘O’ Gold” is the theme of the Delano Chamber of Commerce St. Patrick’s Day celebration, set for 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at B’s on the River, 1455 County Road 27, Watertown. A 6 p.m. cocktail hour will be followed by a 7 p.m. all you can eat Irish buffet. Entertainment will be offered all evening and live and silent auctions will be available. Single $15 tickets and $25 tickets for couples are available at Crow River Bank, State Bank of Delano, Delano Chevrolet, Coborn’s and the Chamber of Commerce. Dress casually or for St. Patrick’s Day for this adults only event.

MARCH 18 — The Delano School Board will meet Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the Delano High School Media Center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue in Delano.

MARCH 18 — The Rockford School Board will meet Monday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the district board room located in the Rockford Middle School.
Women of Today
MARCH 18 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. The group invites everyone to join them at the Maple Grove Community Center at 7 p.m. Guests from Maple Grove and surrounding communities are welcome. The mission of Women of Today is to help women improve their own lives and the lives of the people in their communities. MARCH 18 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served. Author grew up in Depression
MARCH 20 — Author Frederick Blanch will give a presentation for all ages at the Delano Senior Center, 234 Second St. N. in Delano, from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. His book “Last Words: Frederick’s Bionary,” describes his life using key words to provide focus. He was a child during the Great Depression in a tiny Minnesota farming community. His life has included stints as a printer, actor, beekeeper, television producer and photographer. “Last Words” was nominated for a Minnesota Book Award. Sponsored by the Delano Public Library, this program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Winter Morning Stories
MARCH 19 — Children ages three through five are invited to attend Winter Morning Stories at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., Tuesday, March 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. These preschool story times include stories, songs, and rhymes. Breast Cancer Support Group
MARCH 19 — The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet Tuesday, March 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B at Ridgeview Medical Center. During each support group session, an educational topic, such as music therapy, plastic surgery or breast cancer statistics will be discussed. This support group provides an opportunity for women to ask questions, share concerns, and offer support to one another in regard to their experiences with breast cancer. Sons of Norway show ‘Art of Norway’
MARCH 19 — The Sons of Norway’s Vestland Lodge will host a presentation, “The Art of Norway,” by Odell Bjerkness Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd. in Minnetonka. This presentation will examine a wide range of Norwegian art, including the early stylized rock carvings in the northern Norway city of Alta, Viking gripping-beast style of carvings found in the Oseberg Viking ship, architecture of stave churches in 1200, 18th century Romantic oil painters like Johan Christian Dahl and Adolph Tidemand and famous pictorial artist Edvard Munch. Also featured will be Per Krog, who created a large fresco in the United Nations building, the sculpture of Gustav Vigeland in Frogner Park in Oslo and folk artist Sigmund Aarseth. Veteran’s aid seminar
MARCH 21 — A “Veteran’s Aid and Attendance” seminar is Thursday, March 21, at 5 p.m. at Elder Homestead, 11400 4th St. N., Minnetonka. This event is a benefit that is available for eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses to help finance assisted living and long-term care. MARCH 23 — Catholic United Financial will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m Saturday, March 23, event will at the Sts. Peter and Paul Community Center in Loretto. Ridgeview Friends & Family Come Together Event
MARCH 23 — Join Ridgeview Foundation, Ridgeview Medical Center, Safari Island and more than 35 other community organizations for a free, interactive healthy living event that promotes the health, wellness and safety of the entire community. Enjoy a wide range of activities and presentations designed for children and adults of all ages, including health screenings, community and personal health and safety information and much more. Read to a Dog
MARCH 23 — The Rockford Public Library is offering a “Read To a Dog” program for children Saturday, March 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dogs are great listeners, and even children who are not confident readers enjoy reading to them. Rockford’s library reading dog is Kirk, a 5-year-old farm collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He would love to have school age readers stop by and read to him. Children may bring a favorite book or pick one out at the library. The library will also have “Read To a Dog” programs on the last Saturday in April. Wow Van visit
MARCH 28 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Easter egg hunt
MARCH 30 -— The NW Area JC’s Annual Egg Hunt, geared for ages ten and under, will be Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at the Corcoran Community Park, County Rds. 10 and 50, rain or shine so dress accordingly. Bring a bag or basket to collect all the treats and prize eggs (which you turn in for larger prizes afterwards). Bring your cameras too, the Easter Bunny will be there and hopefully Alice in Wonderland will join again.
