Rockford Elementary Arts Magnet School held their annual Preschool/Kindergarten Festival on Jan. 5 for the Class of 2026 students.
At the festival, future students and their parents met the kindergarten teachers and participated in activities in their classrooms. Teaching specialists in the areas of music and physical education were also available to visit with families. Incoming kindergarten students were given a class of 2026 t-shirt and took their first class picture together.
Also during the event, parents had the opportunity to not only to learn about Rockford’s all-day every-day, tuition-free Kindergarten program but also the Launching Pad preschool and Galaxy Kids before- and after-school care programs. Brochures and kindergarten information were available and the video “A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener” was previewed.
Principal Brenda Petersmeyer said, “The Kindergarten Festival is such a positive event for children and parents. It is a fun way for our future students to begin thinking about kindergarten and for parents to gain necessary information and begin making connections with staff and other families.” Over 20 staff members volunteered to help with this special event.
