Jungle Book auditions

JAN. 6 & 7 — Auditions for SOAR Academy’s first project, Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids! are Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 5 and 6, at Albertville City Hall, 5959 Main Ave. NE. Rehearsals Begin Jan. 7 and continue Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings leading up to the performances. All rehearsals will be at St. Michael City Center and Albertville City Hall. SOAR Academy strives to exceed the regular theater experience by having your children engage in “Beyond the Stage Sessions.” No more sitting around and waiting for your turn to go on stage. These sessions will be led by qualified individuals and offer a wide variety of educational enrichment in addition to regular rehearsals. Skills that are gained through SOAR Academy not only apply to the Performing Arts, but can be utilized in all facets of life. Commissioner at Republican meeting

JAN. 8 — The Republican Seniors of Minnesota will welcome Jeff Johnson, Hennepin County Commissioner and member of the Minnesota Republican Committee, to the group’s monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Poor Richard’s Commonhouse, 8301 Normandale Blvd. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. for discussion time, to be followed by the speaker. Lunch will be served from a menu ranging from $6 to $11. Those not eating are required to pay $3 to attend.

JAN. 8 — Hanover City Council meets Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. at city hall on 11250 Fifth St.

JAN. 8 — Rogers City Council will meet Tuesday, Jan. 8 (Dec. 24 meeting canceled) at 7 p.m. at the Rogers Community Center.

Osseo Book Club

JAN. 8 — The Osseo Book Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Edinburgh Golf Clubhouse, 8700 Edinbrook Crossing in Brooklyn Park. Debbie Cohn from The Book Case in Wayzata will be the featured speaker. The luncheon time is at noon with the speaker to follow.

St. Michael preschool fair

JAN. 9 — The St. Michael MOMS Club NE is hosting an annual St. Michael/Albertville Preschool Fair Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Albertville City Hall. Free event. Representatives from many local preschools will be available to give information about their curriculum and answer any questions. This is an opportunity for local parent to learn which preschool to attend for the fall of 2013. Plus meet area MOMS Club Chapters.

Corcoran council

JAN 10 — Corcoran City Council will meet will next meet Thursday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. at city hall at 8200 County Rd. 116.

Pediatric CPR, First Aid

JAN. 12 — New River Medical Center will offer a CPR and First Aid class designed specifically for daycare providers and new parents Saturday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the hospital. This life-saving class teaches the skills you need to effectively manage medical emergencies you may encounter with infants and children. Choking, airway obstruction and home/environmental safety issues with be covered, in addition to automated external defibrillator (AED) training. This American Heart Association course meets the licensing requirements for day care providers. Cost to attend this informative class is $65 and registration is required. JAN. 14 — The Rogers MOMS Club is hosting a Preschool Fair Monday, Jan. 14, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Rogers Community Center, 21201 Memorial Dr. Come check out several area preschools and early childhood programs all in one convenient location. Open and free to the public. Kids are welcome to attend. JAN. 20 — The “famous KC Lumberjack Breakfast … you better be hungry!” is Sunday, Jan. 20, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church Hall, St. Martin Campus (Downtown Rogers).
