Local club gymnasts place high at major regional meet

More than 1,500 gymnasts from six states participated in the recent Peppermint Twist club gymnastics meet at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Teams from the North Shore Gymnastics Association took high honors at three levels. Level 4 placed third, Level 5 was sixth and Level 6 finished fifth.

NSGA’s Level 4 competitors who finished in the top half of their session were Mei Vickery (13th place), Peyton Dickhausen (14), Kennedy Schmidt (19), Anna Murley (20) and Reese Lenort (31).

With a total of 94 gymnasts competing in North Shore’s Level 5 session, Samantha Peoschl tied for 21st with her all-around score of 35.00. Other finishers in the class were Olivia Jahnke (27), Makena Rasmussen (31), Maya Loven 35) and Colette Mayhew (45).

Rasmussen’s uneven bar score of 9.55 was the second highest during the session and was her personal best for the season.

North Shore’s Level 6 age 10 gymnast Sara Murley finished her session in 14th place with an all-around score of 34.00.

In the Level 6 age 11 session, Bella Burke finished fifth. She had the top floor exercise score of 9.35 and the second highest score of 9.10 on uneven bars.

In the Level 6 age 12-plus group, Nicole Albertson was North Shore’s top scorer with 35.55 points in the all-around to place sixth. Her floor score of 9.35 was second best and her beam score of 9.30 was third.

Teammates finishing in the top half of the session were Meagan Boecker (9), Sydney Donaldson (11) and Abigail Ylitalo (15). Taylor Burnham had the fifth highest vault score of 9.075.
