Tiger gymnasts claim second at Annandale invite

With the help of three strong performances in the all-around competition, Delano secured second place at the 10-team Annandale Invitational gymnastics meet Saturday.

Senior Anna Wischmann finished second in the all-around at 34.9. Senior Andi Jo Shrode took fourth at 33.95 and junior Amelia Sutherland placed eighth with 31.75. The team score was 133.65.

Wischmann placed second on balance beam, third on uneven bars, sixth on floor exercise and ninth on vault.

Shrode captured first in floor exercise, plus was sixth on vault and eighth on beam. Sutherland took sixth place on bars and was 10th on floor.

Delano also defeated league newcomer New London-Spicer 134-119 Thursday. The Tigers swept the top four spots in the all-around.

Wischmann (34.85) was followed by Shrode (33.5), Sutherland (32.875) and sophomore Alexus Aguirre (32.5)

First place honors also went to Wischmann on vault and balance beam. She was second on uneven bars and floor.

Shrode finished first on bars and floor, plus was second on vault. Sutherland was third on beam and floor, plus fourth on bars. Aquirre captured second on beam, fourth on vault and fifth on floor. Ninth-grader Cassie Moe added a third place finish on bars. Junior Lydia Farniok took fourth on beam.

Delano also had the top four all-arounders in the junior varsity match against NLS. Cassidy Gilmore was followed by Janel Pininonmi, Alaina Johnson and Sydney Imamura.

Delano is home against Mound-Westonka, 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20.
