Marvelous Mondays

For families. Mondays are marvelous at the library! Drop in to build LEGO® masterpieces or show off your skills on the PS2, Wii and Xbox Kinect.

Teen Manga Book Club

For teens. Whether you like shojo or shonen, or don’t know the difference yet, discuss your favorite series and find new favorites here.

Anime Showcase

Thursday, Dec. 20, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Follow That Hobbit!

Library Laboratory: Recipe Scrapbook

Saturday, Jan. 26, 10:30a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Use family recipes and photos to create a frame-worthy scrapbook page, including artwork from the Minnesota Historical Society’s extensive cookbook collection. Be sure to bring photos and recipes from home. Some materials will be provided.

Toddler Storytime

Mondays, January 28, Feb. 4, Feb. 11 & Feb. 25, 10:30 a.m.

For families. For children ages 2 and 3. Interact with your toddler to nurture a love of books. Learn letters, sounds, and new words. Be active with music and movement.

Preschool Storytime

Tuesdays, Jan. 29–Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m.

For families. For children ages 4 to 6. Help your preschooler get ready to read. Enjoy stories together and build language skills.

Act Out for Kids: Storymaking

Using fairy tales and simple acting games, you will be led by an experienced Guthrie teaching artist to create your own tales inspired by the twists and turns of your imagination. Paws to Read

Sunday, Feb. 10, 12:30–2 p.m.

Registration required, begins Jan 13. Register online or call 612-543-6250.

Certified volunteers will help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a dog or other animal and practice reading aloud. Call ahead to find out what types of animals will be visiting. Sign up for a 15-minute time slot at the information desk beginning Jan. 14.

Master Gardener: Small Space Vegetable Gardening

Tuesday, Feb. 12, 6–7:30 p.m.

You can create highly productive flower and vegetable gardens in small spaces. Learn to plan your space, use trellises, containers, wide-row or square-row, rounded beds and raised beds.
