The 2013 budget and property tax levy was adopted unanimously during the Osseo City Council’s Monday, Dec. 10 meeting. A separate story on the rest of the meeting will appear in next week’s paper.
The General Fund Levy for 2013 will be $942,322, which is an increase of from $900,300 in 2012. This increase is due to the debt levies going up.
The total budget for 2013 will be $1,955,022. This is down from the adopted 2012 budget of $1,963,200.
The general property taxes will be $713,475 in 2013, which is $1,525 less than in 2012.
Finance Officer Gary Braaten said the council approved a balanced budget this year.
There was a new planner position added to the 2013 budget, but the position did not affect the budget. “Everything was status quo this year,” Braaten said.
City Administrator Douglas Reeder said, “I think the budget that you’ve come up this year, and [what] your staff has done a good job in putting together, represents pretty a good effort to keep taxes as low as possible in Osseo.”
