Rockford Fire Department Toy Drive
T0 DEC. 17 — The Rockford Fire Department is helping out Santa again this year from now until Dec. 17. Please give a toy to benefit a local family. Wow Van visit
NOV. 29 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Delano tree lighting
NOV. 30 — Delano will light its live holiday tree at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at River’s Edge Park, located on River Street north of Bridge Avenue. Donations of nonperishable food items and gently used blankets, scarves and mittens will be accepted. Also featured will be sleigh rides and a Santa visit. Sponsor is the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce.
Burgers and More
NOV. 30 — Burgers and More nights are returning to Hamel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5903, 19020 Hamel Road in Plymouth. The next event will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. Hosts will be the Hamel VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Everyone is invited to attend.
Old Fashioned Christmas
DEC. 1 — Old Fashioned Christmas will take over downtown Delano from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Stop at Delano City Hall, located at Bridge Avenue and Second Street, to pick a schedule and locations of events, including an Art Walk, to carolers, holiday characters, Teddy Bear Tea, holiday ornament making, and a “Santa Claus is coming to town” show at the Delano Senior Center.
Snowstormers silent auction
DEC. 1 — Delano Snowstormers Snowmobile Club will host its 2012 silent auction fundraiser at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Delano American Legion, located on Bridge Avenue at Highway 12 in Delano. All proceeds will go towards trail maintenance tools, equipment and class supplies for the Snowstormers Youth Snowmobile Safety Training Program.
Benefit for CROSS
DEC. 1 — On Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Malone’s, 12635 Elm Creek Blvd. N. in Maple Grove, is serving a pancake breakfast for CROSS Food Shelf. The suggested donation of $8 will help CROSS support the families in the community. CROSS Food Shelf serves over 600 families in the community each month. CROSS serves Maple Grove, Osseo, west Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton and Rogers.

Holiday Book and Bake Sale
DEC. 3 TO 8 — The Rockford Library (8220 Cedar St. in downtown Rockford) is hosting a Holiday Book and Bake Sale from Dec. 3 through 8 during library hours. The friends of the Rockford Library saved the best Holiday books of the year for this Sale. You can sign up to donate baked goods to the fundraiser this year, or come and enjoy what others have baked.
Water stakeholder forum
DEC. 4 — Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson will host a water governance stakeholder forum from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Hennepin County Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Dr., Medina. He will use as a starting point for discussion a proposal drafted by his office regarding water governance in Hennepin County.

Holiday Hope, Holiday Healing Event
DEC. 6 — Community members are invited to attend Ridgeview’s annual Holiday Hope, Holiday Healing Event and Tree Lighting Ceremony. Ridgeview Hospice hosts this event each year to support people who are grieving, or experiencing any type of loss, find ways to experience holidays when a love one is no longer present. This event will be Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ridgeview Community Auditorium. Registration is not required. For more information call 952-442-6010.

Loretto Holiday Train visit
DEC. 13 — Loretto will welcome the Canadian Pacific Railway Holiday Train to the city train tracks on County Road 19, Thursday, Dec. 13. Community activities will begin at 3 p.m., and the train is expected to arrive at 4:15 p.m. Tracey Brown and the Claytones will perform from a lighted boxcar stage and donations to the Hanover Area Foodshelf will be collected. The event also will feature a Santa visit, kiddie train and wagon rides, caroling, bonfires and free hot chocolate and cookies.
DEC. 14 — Hamel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5903 will offer a Christmas buffet from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at its clubhouse at 19020 Hamel Road in Plymouth. The VFW invites everyone to attend.

Women of Today
dec. 17 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. DEC. 17 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served.
