Girls tennis ousted in semi’s by Centennial

After advancing into the semifinals of the team portion of the Section 5AA girls tennis tournament, Champlin Park had its season come to an end.

The Rebels, seeded third in the tournament, lost to No. 2 seed Centennial 7-0 Oct. 10 at the Read Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Mounds View ended up beating Centennial 5-2 in the final later that same day.

The girls will now turn their attention to the individual portion of the tournament, which was held Oct. 15 at 16 at the Read Sweatt Tennis Center.

Cross country teams run in NWSC finals

The Champlin Park boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Northwest Suburban Conference championships Oct. 11 at the Elk River Golf Club.

Both teams ended up finishing 10th in the team standings. Centennial was the boys conference champion, while the girls title went to Elk River.

Senior Cassidy Soli had the Rebels best showing. She finished third in the girls 4-kilomoter race in 15 minutes, 4.7 seconds.

Both teams will compete next in the Section 5AA finals Oct. 25 at Anoka High School.

 

Volleyball splits with Osseo and Andover

The Champlin Park volleyball team managed a two-match split in a pair of Northwest Suburban Conference tests last week.

The Rebels opened the week by winning 3-1 at Osseo Oct. 9, before falling 3-2 in a five-set thriller at Andover Oct. 11.

This week, Champlin Park hosted Armstrong Oct. 16 and then traveled to Duluth East for the regular season finale Thursday, Oct. 18.
