‘Diary of Anne Frank’
NOW TO OCT. 21 — This fall, Yellow Tree Theater, 320 Fifth Ave. S.E. in Osseo, opens their fifth season with “The Diary of Anne Frank” by the late playwright Wendy Kesselman. Performances are Sept. 21 through Oct. 21, with show times at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. OCT. 11 — Learn the key trends in children’s health, education and economic stability at a KIDS COUNT Coffee event Thursday, Oct. 11, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Willow Lane Early Childhood Center, School Cafeteria, 7020 Perry Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center. OCT. 13 — Hennepin County Purchasing and Contract Services and partnering municipalities are hosting a vehicle auction Saturday, Oct. 13, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Manheim Minneapolis location at 8001 Jefferson Highway in Maple Grove. Autumn Woods Classic
OCT. 13 — The Annual Autumn Wood Classic takes place Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove. The Classic features a 10K run, 5K run/walk and 1K kids’ run. Team 5K and 10K categories are also available. Family activities include musical entertainment, climbing wall, kids’ obstacle course, crafts and displays. Cost for the 10K and 5K races is $29 for day-of registration and just $23 for pre-registration. Cost for the 1K kids’ run is $9 day-of and just $5 for pre-registration. ‘Murder on Main Street’ series
OCT. 15 — The Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street N., will host a mystery writer’s series. The next program is “Murder on Main Street Author Talk: Monica Ferris” Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Ferris is an author with many hats and names: Mary Monica Pulver, Mary Kuhfeld, Margaret Frazer or Ferris. She’ll talk about her current “Threadbare,” which features the popular sleuth, Betsy Devonshire. Ferris’ newest book, “And Then You Dye,” will be published in December. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Maple Grove Library. The program is free and open to adults.

The menu includes the option of steak, chicken or shrimp for $10, or a combination of steak and shrimp for $12. All meals come with a baked potato and bread. Halloween Family Fun
OCT. 20 — The Maple Grove Community Organization hosting its Happy Halloween Family Fun event Saturday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Weaver Lake Park, 8401 Dunkirk Lane. Wear a costume and bring parents. Events include following a map to 20+ stations of games like the Web of Confusion Maze, the Scarecrow Jump, inflatable rides, Esmeralda’s the Witches potion, pumpkin roll, Halloween Mini Golf, bingo, crafts, music and more. The event costs $5 per child, ages 2-8 years, adults are free. Additional refreshments will be available for a fee. OCT. 27 — The annual Halloween Kiddie Parade will be Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at noon. The line-up for the parade is near North Clinic. Kids dressed in costumes march along Central Avenue to the Osseo Community Center, where treat bags are given and games are played. Osseo Lions Club is sponsoring this event.
