Delano hopes to take advantage of home course advantage when it plays host to the Wright County Conference cross country meet, 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Lake Rebecca State Park.
“Our boys have a shot at third with Orono and Mound-Westonka ahead of us,” said coach Borak Wiesner. “Holy Family, Hutchinson, Glencoe-Silver Lake and us are all close in terms of team standings. If our No. 5 guy does well, we’ll finish better.”
The boys have won or placed high at meets this year due to having some front-runners in junior Sam Thomas and sophomore Adam Armbruster. Close behind have been sophomore Daniel Clark and eighth-grader Ticker Sjomeling.
The girls, after having finished last in the conference the last two years, most likely will not be last this season according to Wiesner.
“We could finish as high as sixth out of 11 teams,” adds the coach. “Top contenders are Annandale, Holy Family, Dassel-Cokato, Waconia and Orono.”
Sarah Trocke and Emily Hartman will lead the way for the Tiger girls.
