Hamel Lions Flea Market

THROUGH OCTOBER — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open every Sunday from 6 a.m. through noon in the parking lot at the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Highway 55, Medina. Visitors can shop for antiques, collectables, crafts, plants, produce and more. A farmer’s market will be offered in the fall. Space is available to vendors on a first come/first served basis. Delano Farmers Market

Library Art Show

Through Oct. 27 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is hosting its 27th annual art show through October 27. Area amateur and professional artists are exhibiting their work throughout the library. For information call, 763-972-3467.

Harvest Festival

OCT. 13 — The Rockford Area Historical Society will host a Harvest Festival at the Historic Stork House on Bridge St. in downtown Rockford on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be old fashioned family fun and free tours of the house/museum.

Princess art class

OCT. 13 — Children ages three to six are invited to a Princess Art Class with Abrakadoodle at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Princesses are invited to celebrate all things magical as they make tiaras, a princess painting, and more. The group also will learn to walk, talk, and curtsy like a princess, listen to girly music, read a princess story, and more. Costumes are welcome. Abrakadoodle is a nationally franchised art education program with trained instructors providing a creative, educational experience. Attendance limit is 20. Registration is required. Superheroes art class

OCT. 13 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will offer a Superheroes Art Class with Abrakadoodle from 11:15 to a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13. This class is for children ages three to six who want to be a superhero like Superman, Spiderman or Catwoman. Children will make the accessories a superhero needs, including a superhero shield and cape. They will also read superhero stories, listen to fun music, and practice superhero powers. Mystery Bingo

OCT. 14 — Catholic United Financial will sponsor a matching grant Mystery Bingo at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Saints Peter and Paul Parish Center, 145 Railway St. E. in Loretto. Prizes are valued at $20 to $40. Admission is $10 for adults 12 and older and $6 for those under 12. Additional cards will be available. Admission price entitles a player to a bingo card (20 games of bingo), door prizes, and a meal (hot dog, chips, and beverage). Proceeds will benefit religious education programs at the parish.

Bison girls hockey

OCT. 15 — The Buffalo Bison Girls’ Hockey pre-season meeting is Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the main gym at Buffalo High School. Enter in door #7 on the north side of Buffalo High School.

Rockford School Board

OCT. 15 — The Rockford School Board will meet Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the district board room located in the Rockford Middle School.

Card Marathon

OCT. 15 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served. Women of Today

OCT. 15 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. The group invites everyone to join them at the Maple Grove Community Center at 7 p.m. Guests from Maple Grove and surrounding communities are welcome. The mission of Women of Today is to help women improve their own lives and the lives of the people in their communities. Fall Morning Stories

OCT. 16 – 30 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is offering a Fall Morning Stories series of preschool story times for children ages three to five. Fall Morning Stories will take place on Tuesday mornings, 10:30 to 11 a.m., through Oct. 30. Preschool story times encourage literacy and include stories, songs, rhymes and fun. Pizza Taste-off

OCT. 16 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will host its fifth annual Pizza Taste-Off for teens and preteens ages 10 to 14 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. Come and celebrate National Pizza Month and Teen Read Week. Learn pizza trivia, taste-test local pizzas, and pick the best tasting pizza in town. Attendance limit is 15. Registration is required. Breast Cancer Support Group

OCT. 16 — The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B at Ridgeview Medical Center. During each support group session, an educational topic, such as music therapy, plastic surgery or breast cancer statistics will be discussed. This support group provides an opportunity for women to ask questions, share concerns, and offer support to one another in regard to their experiences with breast cancer. Meet the Candidate

OCT. 18 ­— There will be a “Meet the Candidates” event Thursday, Oct. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Greenfield City Hall (7738 commerce Cr.). Please come and meet the local candidates so you are informed on their stands.  There will be set questions asked by a monitor, and a time for audience questions drawn from a box. Please mark your calendar and try to attend. This will be taped and available on the city’s website. Candidates may have flyers available.

Reading assistance dog

OCT. 18 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, a certified reading assistance dog, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels for a “pawsitive” reading experience.
