Hamel Lions Flea Market

THROUGH OCTOBER — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open every Sunday from 6 a.m. through noon in the parking lot at the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Highway 55, Medina. K. J. McDonald Benefit

OCT. 6 — Proceeds from a benefit for K.J. McDonald will help him and his family pay medical expenses not covered by insurance. McDonald is long-time Mayor of Watertown. He was diagnosed with a melanoma cancer three years ago. Despite surgeries and radiation treatments, the cancer has spread. Mayor McDonald is undergoing holistic alternative treatments and praying for a full recovery. The benefit will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Watertown City Hall. Delano Granite Works memories

OCT. 6 — Phil Gilmer will share memorabilia and stories of the Delano Granite Works, the family business that his grandfather founded, at a meeting of the Delano-Franklin Township Area Historical Society. He will speak at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Delano City Hall, Bridge Avenue and Second Street. The Granite Works operated from 1917 to 1985.

Teatime with Angelina Ballerina

OCT. 6 — Children ages three to seven, accompanied by an adult, are invited to Teatime with Angelina Ballerina at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Celebrate tea with story heroine Angelina Ballerina and the library and learn fun tips for healthy eating, make a cool teatime craft, and dine on morsels fit for a star. Grief Support Group

OCT. 8 — The Grief Support Group: Rebuilding Hope, sponsored by Ridgeview Medical Center will meet Monday, Oct. 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center. This support group is for those experiencing grief or anticipating a loss of someone they care about. OCT. 9 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at Coborn’s super market, located on Highway 12 at County Line Road, Delano, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Fall Morning Stories

OCT. 9 – 30 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is offering a Fall Morning Stories series of preschool story times for children ages three to five. Fall Morning Stories will take place on Tuesday mornings, 10:30 to 11 a.m., through Oct. 30. Preschool story times encourage literacy and include stories, songs, rhymes and fun. Five-Year Highway Construction and Bridge Improvement Meeting

OCT. 9 —Wright County will host a public meeting on its proposed five-year highway and bridge construction program at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Commissioner’s Board Room of the Wright County Government Center in Buffalo. The purpose of this meeting is to hear testimony from local citizens, businesses, and other governmental units concerning future highway and bridge construction needs. Humane Society president

OCT. 9 — Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, will host a discussion, question-and-answer and book signing session 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow North Lane, Golden Valley. Halbrook’s new show, “Professor Marvel’s Dream Machines,” is a non-stop magical extravaganza. OCT. 13 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will offer a Superheroes Art Class with Abrakadoodle from 11:15 to a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13. This class is for children ages three to six who want to be a superhero like Superman, Spiderman or Catwoman. Children will make the accessories a superhero needs, including a superhero shield and cape. They will also read superhero stories, listen to fun music, and practice superhero powers. Mystery Bingo

OCT. 14 — Catholic United Financial will sponsor a matching grant Mystery Bingo at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Saints Peter and Paul Parish Center, 145 Railway St. E. in Loretto. Prizes are valued at $20 to $40. Admission is $10 for adults 12 and older and $6 for those under 12. Additional cards will be available. Admission price entitles a player to a bingo card (20 games of bingo), door prizes, and a meal (hot dog, chips, and beverage). Proceeds will benefit religious education programs at the parish.

Card Marathon

OCT. 15 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served.
