Volleyball falls to Blaine

The Champlin Park volleyball team took its swing at the second ranked team in Minnesota, but Blaine verified its ranking with a straight-set victory Sept. 20.

The Bengels won 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-16) to drop the Rebels to 5-7 this season.

Champlin Park returns to action this week with home matches against Rogers Sept. 24 and Anoka at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27.

Swimmers lose in Osseo

The Champlin Park girls swimming and diving team dropped a Northwest Suburban Conference dual at Osseo Sept. 20.

The Orioles took the meet 101-77.

Champlin Park will be hosting four of its next five duals. This week, the Rebels host Coon Rapids Sept. 25 before traveling to Park Center Thursday, Sept. 27.

From there, the team will return to Jackson Middle School to host Andover Oct. 2, Centennial Oct. 4 and then Elk River Oct. 11.

Girls soccer scares Andover

The Champlin Park girls soccer team put a scare into undefeated and fourth-ranked Andover Sept. 19.

The Huskies edges the Rebels 2-1, as Champlin Park had its record drop to 1-8 on the year.

Junior Karina Herrera netted Champlin Park’s lone goal in the loss.

This week, the Rebels played at Spring Lake Park Sept. 24 in a make-up from the season’s opening week. They also played at Coon Rapids Thursday, Sept. 27 and at home against Mounds View at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
