Hanover council

Sept. 4 — Hanover City Council meets Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at city hall on 11250 Fifth St.

Sportsman’s Extravaganza

SEPT. 8 — The Albertville Lions are hosting the Fourth Annual Sportsman’s Extravaganza Saturday, Sept. 8. The event is moving this year to the Crow River Sportsmen’s Club located just off County Rd. 116 and Hwy. 241. New events this year including a Meat Trap Shoot and archery events.

Admission is free. Food concessions will be available for sale including the Infamous Trap Shoot Beef Sandwich. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The club is excited to offer great raffle prizes again this year including a Lake of the Woods Guided Walleye Fishing Trip for six people, Cabela’s gift cards, archery packages, pheasant hunt, custom walleye rod, Honda generator, ice fishing house, gun safe and cash. Raffle tickets are still only $10 each, and are available by contacting Lion Sharon Edelman at 425-4230. Tickets are also available on the day of the event at the park. The raffle drawing will be at 6:30 p.m.

Demolition derby

SEPT. 8 — The Corcoran Lions Demolition Derby is Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at Corcoran Lions Park. Featuring cars, trucks, compact cars and compact trucks. Beer and food on grounds, no coolers allowed. Free parking. Admission is $10 for ages 12 and older, $5 for ages 4 to 11, and 3 and under free. SEPT. 11 — Rogers City Council will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Rogers Community Center.

St. Michael council

Corcoran council

SEPT. 13 — Corcoran City Council will meet will next meet Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at city hall at 8200 County Rd. 116.

Free lunch/family fun event

SEPT. 16 — A free picnic lunch and family fun event is being planned for Sunday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at Albertville Central Park, 5700 Lander Ave NE. This free event includes — care package outreach, help assemble care packages for the needy in our communities and those affected by natural disasters. All supplies provided by Catholic United Financial. Picnic lunch – Enjoy a catered lunch with refreshments. Family fun – Musical Entertainment, face painting, inflatable bounce house and more. Town hall meeting

SEPT. 17 — A town hall meeting is Monday, Sept. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rogers Community Room. Come meet the candidates for Mayor and the two City Council positions to be filled at the General Election on November 6, 2012. Find out who they are and what they plan on doing for the city of Rogers. There will be a question and answer period after the main forum.

Backyard Success With Apples

SEPT. 24 — Rogers Library is hosting “Master Gardener: Backyard Success With Apples” Monday, Sept. 24, 6 p.m. Registration required; begins Aug. 27; limit 20. Add beauty to your landscape with apple trees. Learn about the different varieties, selecting a planting site, proper planting techniques, decisions after planting, pruning fruit trees, and pest and disease management.  Presented in collaboration with Hennepin County Master Gardeners, University of Minnesota Extension.

Tim Larson Memorial 5K

SEPT. 29 — The Tim Larson Memorial 5K is Saturday, Sept. 29, behind St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West, 11343 50th St, Albertville. Pre-registered runners are $20 and this needs to be mailed by Sept. 22; $25 day of race. Pre-registered runners are guaranteed a shirt … there will be a limited supply on race day. First Pages for Kids

SEPT. 29 — Rogers Library is hosting “First Pages for Kids: Creating Magical Worlds” Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Rogers Library. Registration required; begins Sept. 1; limit 20. Grades 4 to 6. Do you want to be a writer? Learn how to create magical, fictional worlds that capture the imagination of your readers and keep them glued to the pages of your stories! Presented in collaboration with The Loft Literary Center.

MQP 5K

OCT. 6 — The Annual Mary Queen of Peace Fall 5K is Saturday, Oct. 6. Check-in begins 8 a.m., Kids run at 8:30 a.m., 5K at 9 a.m. Mary Queen of Peace School is hosting a 5K run/walk and 1K kids fun run. All are welcome to join in this fundraiser for our school. Awards and refreshments are available after the race. 5K registration by Sept. 22 includes a T-shirt and the cost is $25, after Sept 22, cost is $30. 1K kids run is open to and including age 8, cost is $10. ‘Rock the Land’

music, fall festival

OCT. 6 — “Rock the Land” a day-long, outdoor fall music festival, is taking place in St. Michael Saturday, Oct. 6, located just a mile west of County Rd. 19, on 30th St. NE on the Alleluia Lutheran church land (by the Trinity Chapel.)  The day will kick-off with a 5K, followed by all-day live bands, kids activities, great food, silent auction, a beer garden and more.
