Andrews Park facelift underway

A construction crew clears away trees at Andrews Park to make way for a parking lot expansion of more than 120 stalls and a curbed parking lot as part of the parks overall improvement project. Other improvements in phase one include changes to the west entrance to align with Oregon Avenue and underground infrastructure to support phase 2 which will include the splash pad, picnic shelter and programming improvements.

The improvements, which began Monday, Aug. 20, means the Andrews Park playground will be closed due to the heavy equipment in close proximity. During this closure, Champlin Public Works will replace the playground’s sand with certified wood fiber safety surfacing. They will also be doing grass repairs and edging of the concrete container.
