The 2012 Primary Election is just days away. Area voters can cast their ballots Tuesday, Aug. 14, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the following seats.
The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners primary race in District 1 is between three candidates: Mike Opat, Chris Rains and Joy Marsh Stephens. The top two winners of the primary election will face off in the Nov. 6 general election. This district includes residents in Osseo.
Also on the ballot are the two Republican party candidates vying for the party spot in U.S. Congressional District 3. Incumbent Congressman Erik Paulsen of Eden Prairie and John Howard III of Edina are the candidates. The candidate with the most votes after the primary on Aug. 14 will face DFL candidate Brian Barnes of Edina in the general election. Both the cities of Maple Grove and Osseo are in the district.
The Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners District 2 seat primary race is between Jennifer DeJournett, Richard Theisen and incumbent Marilynn Corcoran. The two candidates who receive the most votes in the primary will advance to the general election. District two includes Maple Grove and Osseo.
Don’t forget to vote at the newly-designated polling locations in Maple Grove. Osseo voters will still vote at City Hall. See separate story.
