Delano gets NW Business Park grants

The Delano City Council Tuesday, July 17, approved agreements for two grants totaling $100,060 grants that will assist the city of Delano in developing its new Northwest Business Park.

The two grants from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) are in addition to a grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). The MnDOT grant agreement will come before the City Council at a later date.

The largest DEED grant is for $700,000 under the TED Program, which assists local government units in financing of public infrastructure to support local economic development projects.

A second grant for $360,000 is under the Business Development Public Infrastructure Program, which is targeted for cities outside the metropolitan area. These funds help cities pay for infrastructure needs for economic development projects.

Delano has entered into agreements with Ken and Penni Murphy for including their property in the business park project. The next step for the city is entering into a master development agreement with the Lahti/ Moonen development group. After that, plans and specifications will be developed.
