Motorists will encounter daytime delays on both directions of Highway 55 in Rockford between Ash Street and Highway 92 (Dogwood Street) as the Highway 55 resurfacing project continues.
Starting Friday, May 25, traffic will return to two lanes in each direction at night. During daytime working hours lane closures are expected to occur through June 8. Access is available onto all cross streets and to all local businesses.
Pedestrian access remains closed at the intersection of Highway 55 and Main Street while a City utility project is underway. The temporary pedestrian detour route at Maple Street and Highway 55 remains open.
Maple Street is an un-signalized intersection and pedestrians are encouraged to exercise caution when crossing Highway 55 at this location. The Maple Street pedestrian detour is expected to remain in effect until early June.
The Highway 55 design-build resurfacing project is located in Hennepin and Wright counties between Ash Street in Rockford and just west of Pinto Drive in Medina. Work includes resurfacing Highway 55 to preserve the lifespan of the roadway and create a smoother drive for motorists, adding turn lanes at various intersections to enhance safety, repairing curb and gutters and drainage structures, and updating accessibility for pedestrians. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-September.
